Unsung Heroes Golf Classic
Twin Lakes Golf Course Clifton, VA
Organized by the Fairfax County (VA) Police Association and the Fairfax Coalition of Police, IUPA Local 5000, this four-person scramble-format golf tournament will begin with registration at 7:30 AM and a tee time at 8:30 AM. Registration ($175 per golfer) includes greens fee, golf cart, range balls, breakfast, beverage cart and awards reception. Entry deadline is May 2, 2008. All proceeds for this event will be donated to the "Matter of Honor" campaign in support of the National Law Enforcement Museum. Sponsorship opportunities are available.

Driving for Donors National Marrow Donor Drive -- Law Enforcement Kickoff
NLEOMF Visitors Center 605 E Street, NW, Washington, DC
Pat Pedraja, a 12-year-old boy from Florida who was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2006, is embarking on his second national "drive for donors" with a law enforcement kickoff during National Police Week. Pat, whose father is a police officer in south Florida, added more than 6,000 donors to the National Marrow Registry in 2007, including hundreds at National Police Week and other law enforcement events across the country. Pat, his mother, Claudine, and other family members are hoping to top that number in 2008. The special "Donormobile" will be parked outside the NLEOMF Visitors Center distributing information and collecting swabs for the National Marrow Registry.

The 9th annual National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Golf Classic is the "WORLD'S LARGEST LAW ENFORCEMENT GOLF EVENT." Any golfer -- male or female, with or without a USGA handicap -- is invited to participate. Last year's event raised $62,000, bringing the tournament's 8-year total donation to the Memorial to $316,000. The number of entries will be limited to the first 1,200 golfers who sign up.
