THE LAW ENFORCEMENT ASSISTANCE CONNECTION SUPPORTS THE NATIONAL LAW ENFORCEMENT MUSEUM

LEAC event raises $6,000 for the Museum, furthering its dedication to the Museum as it continues its mission to bring law enforcement together.

Law Enforcement Assistance Connection (LEAC) fundraising eventWashington, DC — With the help of more than 150 dedicated supporters, including several national law enforcement leaders, the Law Enforcement Assistance Connection (LEAC) held another successful fundraising event for the National Law Enforcement Museum on October 29, at Michael's Cafe in Timonium, MD. This year, the event raised $6,000, bringing the five-year total that the LEAC has contributed to the Museum to $19,500.

Hosted by LEAC President Terry L. Hunt Jr., the event featured 2007 NAPO "Top Cop" Peter J. Elliott, the U.S. Marshal for the Northern District of Ohio, as well as Chiefs Carlos Noriega (Miami Beach, FL, Police Department) and Charles Press (Key Biscayne, FL, Police Department), and Tonya Sconyers, of the NC Department of Parole and Probation. Members of the Hoover (AL) Police Department Honor Guard were on hand to present the colors.

The efforts of the LEAC go a great deal farther than its donation to the Museum's capital campaign, "A Matter of Honor." Through the hard work of LEAC President Terry L. Hunt Jr., the LEAC forms a unique and vital role in the law enforcement community — working as a networking link among law enforcement officials from all specialties, all locales, all jurisdictions, across the country, to prevent crime. As Mr. Hunt states in a recent article he wrote for Police Chief Magazine, published by the International Association of Chiefs of Police, "Used respectfully and on the basis of true give-and-take relationships, networking can be the key to successfully capturing a fugitive, closing a business deal, or meeting the leadership of a highly publicized corporation that wants to support an officer's cause."

To members of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, and especially to Chairman Craig W. Floyd, it is through the support of the LEAC, and so many organizations like it, that the National Law Enforcement Museum moves ever closer to becoming a reality. Learn more about the Museum.
