NASCAR ANGELS EPISODE FEATURING SURVIVOR, NATIONAL LAW ENFORCEMENT MUSEUM TO AIR OCT 13 - 14

Angels team up with Jeff Gordon, DuPont and the NLEOMF to make over the car of a dedicated law enforcement supporter and survivor

October 12, 2007

Molly Winters and crewWashington, DC — In a show described as "straight from the heart of NASCAR," NASCAR Angels recently teamed up with NASCAR Nextel Cup points leader Jeff Gordon and the #24 DuPont Chevrolet Race Team to bring a little extra hope — and horsepower — to one of America's most dedicated law enforcement supporters, Molly Winters, surviving wife of Muncie (IN) Patrolman Gregg Winters and former national president of COPS (Concerns of Police Survivors).

NASCAR AngelsEach week, NASCAR Angels enlists the help of one of America's top drivers to make over and revamp the car of one deserving individual. NASCAR Angels chose Mrs. Winters for the episode that will air nationwide the weekend of October 13 - 14.

When Mrs. Winters lost her husband in January, 1991, she was left alone to raise their two young sons. Her grief eventually brought her renewed inspiration. Mrs. Winters went on to help build a statewide support group in Indiana and push state and federal lawmakers to increase benefits for the families of fallen officers. She served as the national president of COPS, and member of the NLEOMF Board, from 2000 to 2002.

Today she remains an active volunteer — driving to hospitals, training sessions and numerous speaking engagements in support of law enforcement survivors in Indiana. But her 1994 Buick Sport Regal could barely keep up, until NASCAR Angels stepped in, to "say thank you for her dedication and caring and for showing others that one person really can make a difference."

To see what happens when Mrs. Winters' 90,000-mile vehicle gets a makeover from Jeff Gordon's team at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, watch October 13 - 14. To check local listings, visit www.nascar.com/auto/angels. The show will be repeated December 15 - 16.

This NASCAR Angels episode also includes interviews with DuPont and NLEOMF representatives discussing plans for the National Law Enforcement Museum (www.LawEnforcementMuseum.org), a project that has been supported by Mr. Gordon, DuPont, Hendrick Motorsports and NASCAR in recent months. During NASCAR's May race in Richmond, Mr. Gordon's #24 DuPont Chevrolet carried a banner on the rear TV panel featuring a special website — cops.kevlar.com — created by DuPont to support the Museum's fundraising efforts. A major corporate partner of the Museum, DuPont also created and promoted a toll-free telephone number — 1.877.COP.9606 — to raise awareness of the Museum and encourage public contributions to the Museum's fundraising campaign.
